Nutrition - Essential Nectar of Life & Living

The Movement of life through: Nutrition, Exercise, Hydration, Mind, Body, Spirit: Purpose

As with all laws of nature one must move the body for the benefits of great health.

From mouth to Gut, our nutrition and air we breathe connects us all to our universal surroundings...

As we continue to embarking on this journey of the mind, self-discovery, and our purpose, it would be amiss not to mention Nutrition and Hydration. After all, they are the essential nectar of life and living. Without them, you wouldn’t even be reading this blog post!

Again acknowledging the fuel of life keeping our spirits, mind, bodies, alive and active. Our lives are fast paced and we live busy lives. Often, we forget our body and indulge in poor fuel for nourishment. That is, until we are rudely awakened by discomfort, pain, or ailments. Together, let us shift our thoughts toward healthier nutrition for better living, and to maximize our mental energy and capacity.

Food For Thought?

No, actually, it’s your thoughts that bring you your food. In fact, the quality of your food is dictated by the types of thoughts you entertain. Sure, there are many other fundamental factors that influence your choice of food, such as cultural, traditional, and environmental factors. However, alas, the decision of nutrition to sustain your body remains your very own. It is you and your mental thought patterns that decide how you nourish this temple of a body.

So, be watchful of what you allow to settle in your mind. If you can cultivate peace and serenity within, it will literally manifest in your diet. If you somehow allow jealousy and anger into your mental landscape, that too, will show up in the choice of your food. As the wise ones say, “As within, so without.”

Busy Lives And The Forgotten Home…

We humans often seem to forget the most prime real estate that is known to us - our bodies. Whatever we eat, becomes part of this body, brain, and mind, and that is what sustains it. For instance, the water you drink is made of hydrogen and oxygen. When you ingest it, these molecules find their way to some part of your body and remain there for a certain period. So, you are literally what you eat (or drink)!

And what’s so amazing about our bodies is that the glorious creator has designed them so intelligently that they can be sustained even if we forget to nourish this home for a day. Sure, we might feel a little feeble, but we can very much go about our day normally.

And when our bodies are without “dis-ease” and we’re well nourished with healthy foods balanced with carbs, sugars, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and water, it can offer us the clearest of mind. After all, it’s designed to function that way!

Hydration - The Elixir of Life

Of course, we can’t speak about food without mentioning hydration. In fact, it is even more essential than food. That’s because we can barely survive a few days without water but we can survive a few weeks without food. Without water, there is no such thing as longevity of your life. I have come across people whose preferences mostly revolve around carbonated sugary drinks, and unable to palate water, but there's yet to be evidence of this being a better option for good health.

You may not like the tasteless nature of water, but that’s just how nature has intended it. But if you want to ensure your recommended daily intake of water, there are many things you can do to enhance its taste. For example, you could add a few sprigs of peppermint in a jar, add a slice of lemon to your water bottle, or even your favorite fruits or veggies (such as a cucumber).

Maintaining The Balance of Life

Our bodies maintain a delicate balance of life with the help of these fuels. So, on this journey of the body, mind, and self-understanding, make sure that you remember to bring the best quality foods and water to replenish yourself. This will also help cleanse your mental and bodily energies.

In addition to nutrition, there are many other things that you can instill in your life to make sure you take optimal care of the temple of your body. Some really simple things you can add to your daily routine are exercise, prayers, meditation and introspect care.

We all know the benefits of exercising daily. It gets the blood flowing and strengthens your muscles and bones. It also helps you better absorb the nutrients from your food. Overall, it enhances the capacity of your body and mind.

However, other things like praying, meditating, or introspecting are equally important. That’s because we all need some time to allow the mind to gather energy and commune with life and its maker.

So, for this purpose, you might want to spend some time every day in a quiet space. It could be early in the morning before anyone wakes up or just before you go to bed at night. I personally like to do the former because I have small children. Either way, a commitment to quieting the mind and peaceful contemplation can change your life for the better. Try it and let me know your thoughts.

Just Move

I have noticed something about nature, unless there is some form of physical limitation it requires movement. I know we have covered exercise, but this is about simply moving. So, don’t forget to get your body moving, and within the limitations that you are able of course. Speak with your provider if additional precautions are necessary. An idle body, without proper exercise, creates an opportunity for disease, that can otherwise be avoided. Heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, low depressed moods, and anxieties, all can benefit from many forms of exercise, and movement. Walks, meaningful stretches, yoga, and breathing, can all be implemented in your day, from five to ten, to 30 min, at least 3x per week. Again, go at your pace, check in with your provider, and enjoy the benefits.

I welcome you to order my book, on Amazon, A Simple Guide to the Vehicle of Self. This book is now available, and is an understanding of our body systems, what may go wrong within these systems, what to expect at your primary health assessment, and an overall holistic perspective for knowledge and care of our spirit, mind, and bodies.
