Blazing New Trails - A Haitian Black Woman's Journey of Mind

Welcome to my blog once again,  a new journey into 2024. Day one.

If you are familiar with my blog, thank you for once again reading these thoughts. And if you are new, welcome to this journey where I share powerful insights.

Starting this blog was both simple and complex but also so necessary in these times we are experiencing. May 2024 bring us new light of awareness. The simple truth is these thoughts come to me like water flowing from a spring. But the complexity arises because I’m not always in tune with the easiest way to convey my words. Again, however, the one thing I do know is that they are necessary and on time.

I call this piece “Blazing Trails.” I believe in the blazing of trails, especially as a Haitian woman, because it is in our blood… right from the disruption on the continent of Africa to our inception on the Island of Ayiti and our well-fought independence.

In a world of luck, maybe, I just happened to be born to a father whose region and generation on the island are known to be poets and intellects. Growing up, I envied lovingly and quietly the world of the mind that my father possessed. 

My father, knowingly or unknowingly, guided our minds as children the best he could. He tried his best to make sure the true nature of our minds remained intact. Of course, we were all still exposed to environmental influences, but I think we still maintained the essence of wonder that he perhaps purposefully sowed in our minds.

And it is with this germination of that curiosity and wonder that I journey today, sprinkled with the worldly experiences of joy, happiness, pain, sorrow, fear, anxiety, and the various learnings that I was blessed with. My passion and purpose, I feel, is to liberate the minds of others, as I still continue daily to liberate my own. And for this, I am truly humbled.

As a black woman, I was greatly uncertain to enter this world of exposing my mind and experiences to readers. But I feel my thoughts like a poet with the brush of a painter. Therefore, I write.

I would also like to point out that I have observed this world of knowledge has traditionally been approved and accepted mostly from the masculine viewpoint. But, I am here too, in the feminine presence of this world, and wish to challenge my thoughts and yours together towards new insights. I do this in hopes of leaving a better world for our children and the generations to follow.

This is the purpose to be served in the blazing of this trail. I urge you to challenge new trails in 2024 and uncover your purpose in life. Our minds usually end up pursuing other people’s goals and purposes because we have this pesky habit of comparison. But let me tell you this… you only start to live when you are allowing creation to create through you. It is then that you allow the natural intelligence to be free without any bounds whatsoever!

In the end, I would like to thank you for reading my words. I think the takeaway here should be to uncover your own journey, challenge your mind and beliefs, and create something better… create something new, challenge yourself in this new year. Then, act as a beacon of light to ignite the flame of self-awareness in the minds of others. 

Embark upon this beautiful and unique journey. I’ll be happy to meet you there and to learn from you as well!

We all have this one life only. Don’t waste it. Blaze your own trail!
